Wally’s resume includes over 35 years of investment services experience. Prior to becoming chairman of Colonial Trust in 1989, he served as a financial consultant for the Robinson-Humphrey Company. He has worked as Colonial’s lead portfolio manager and has extensive trust and estate experience. A Spartanburg native, Wally is a Washington and Lee University graduate and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University.
Barry D. Wynn
Since 1972, Barry has worked extensively with investment and retirement planning. Before becoming president of Colonial in 1992, he was First Vice President of the Robinson-Humphrey Company and designed investment policy statements. He is involved in public policy and serves on many boards including Santee Cooper and the SC Economic Development Corporation. He is a Spartanburg native and a graduate of The Citadel.
Bert D. Barre,
Principal & Trust Officer
Prior to joining Colonial in 2001, Bert worked as an Equity Research Analyst with Wachovia Securities, Inc. In 2003, he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and in 2004, he was designated a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). Bert became a principal of the firm in 2007 and serves as both a trust officer and portfolio manager. He is a native of Spartanburg and a graduate of Washington and Lee University.
Camp R. Wynn,
Principal & Trust Officer
Camp joined Colonial in 2001, and became a principal in 2007. He previously worked as an analyst in Banc of America Securities’ Global Corporate Investment Bank in Charlotte and for the Bank of America Financial Strategies Group. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2003. He serves as a trust officer and portfolio manager, and heads Colonial’s investment research. He is a Spartanburg native and a graduate of USC.
David C. Humphreys Jr.
Senior Vice President & General Counsel – Charleston
David began in 1969 as a Trust Officer and Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Attorney. Before joining Colonial in 2006, he previously served as the Executive Vice President for Southeastern Trust Company, Senior Vice President and Georgia State Manager for Wachovia’s Personal Trust Division, and Managing Partner of Holmes & Thompson, LLP. David holds degrees from The Citadel and USC.

VP & Trust Officer, Planning & Risk Specialist - Columbia
Brad has worked in the financial services industry specializing in financial planning and risk management. Prior to joining Colonial, he served as a Financial Advisor with Northwestern Mutual. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and also earned certifications as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC). Brad holds degrees from Clemson University.
Ansley J. Mitcham
Vice President & Trust Officer – Columbia
Ansley has an extensive professional background with nearly 20 years of experience in trust administration. She has worked alongside Hugh Graham at Southeastern Trust Company and BB&T, and most recently served as CFO and Trust Officer at Graham & Associates, LLC in Columbia (an affiliate of East Broad Trust Company). She earned a Bachelors of Science degree from USC.
Ann Marie Bird
Vice President & Trust Officer – Columbia
Marie brings over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, focusing primarily on Special Needs Trusts for clients with disabilities. She has been active in trust administration for almost 15 years, and studied at the Southeastern Trust School at Campbell University, completing their program in Trust Administration and Oversight. Marie is a graduate of Appalachian State University and holds a master’s degree from Wake Forest University.
Carolyn L. West
VP & Operations Manager
Carolyn West brings nearly 30 years of extensive experience in investment operations and management to Colonial Group. For several years, she was responsible for branch operations at Robinson-Humphrey Company’s Spartanburg office. She assisted with operations, personnel training following a national merger, and was cross-trained for several administrative positions. She is a primary contact for many of our clients and custodial institutions, is responsible for all investment data reconciliation, and oversees all internal operations. Her long-term client relationships, strong organizational skills and dedication to serving our clients are valuable assets to Colonial Group.
Karen H. Longhurst,
VP of Trust Operations
Karen Longhurst has over 25 years of experience in trust management and operations. Prior to joining Colonial Trust in 2007, Karen was with Boys, Arnold Trust Company in Asheville, North Carolina where she was the Administration and Operations Manager serving as a primary contact for personal trust and investment management accounts. Previously Karen worked as trust relationship manager for RBC Centura Bank in Asheville, N.C., where she worked with both personal and commercial trust clients. Karen received the Certified Trust Financial Advisor designation in 2003.
Lorie L. Barton
Trading & Bookkeeping
Lorie is a native of Pauline, SC and has been with Colonial Group since 1991. She has performed a variety of duties since joining the firm. Lorie has worked extensively in both the trust and asset management departments. She is currently responsible for all trading activity, assists the Operations Manager, and handles all bookkeeping for the firm.
Bobbi D. Albert
Bobbi joined Colonial in 2004 and after 10 years of service at BB&T where she served as a Trust Administrator in Greenville and in Wilson, NC. Bobbi is primarily responsible for trust administration and trust client service in our Spartanburg office.
Leeta T. Lister
Leeta joined Colonial in 2013 after nine years of service at Bank of America where she served as a Personal Banker. Leeta holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from USC Upstate and is primarily responsible for trust administration and trust client service in our Spartanburg office.
Patricia A. Leapord
Pat joined Colonial in 2012 as an accounting specialist and is primarily responsible for our daily trust account interfaces and reconciliation. Pat holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from USC Upstate and has enjoyed a long career in accounting, audit, and management roles with major corporations, including Extended Stay Hotels and Spartan International.
Elaine B. Layton
Elaine joined Colonial in 2007 following many years of dedicated customer service with other firms. Elaine serves as our primary receptionist in the Spartanburg office and assists in all administrative aspects of the firm.
Barbara F. Weatherford
Barbara brings nearly 30 years of financial services experience to Colonial. For over twenty years she worked with Bank of America in their operations and customer service departments. Before joining Colonial Trust in 1997 she worked in the operations department at The Robinson-Humphrey Company in Greenville for five years. Barbara is a trust administrator, operations assistant, and has primary responsibility for client service in the Greenville office.
